The Solar PV grant is available to homeowners who want to install rooftop solar panels to generate electricity. The grant covers up to 2 kWp of installed capacity (up to €800/kWp). An additional grant for battery storage (up to €1,000) is also available. The supply and installation of solar PV has been VAT-free (0%) since May 2023. Homeowners can also export surplus electricity to the grid under the Microgeneration Support Scheme and receive export payments from their electricity supplier. There is also an income tax disregard of €400/year on microgeneration export income, extended to end of 2028. Property must have been built and occupied before 2021.
