The Solar PV grant is available to homeowners who want to install rooftop solar panels to generate electricity. The grant is up to €1,800 — Budget 2027 and the October 2026 SEAI changes kept it at this level. From 6 October 2026 it is open to homes built and occupied before 2025 (previously before 2021).
A separate €600 SEAI grant is available for a home battery. The supply and installation of solar PV has been VAT-free (0%) since May 2023. Homeowners can also export surplus electricity to the grid and receive export payments from their electricity supplier, and Budget 2027 raised the tax-free threshold on microgeneration export income from €400 to €600 a year from 2027.
