Full Details

The Solar PV grant is available to homeowners who want to install rooftop solar panels to generate electricity. The grant covers up to 2 kWp of installed capacity (up to €800/kWp). An additional grant for battery storage (up to €1,000) is also available. The supply and installation of solar PV has been VAT-free (0%) since May 2023. Homeowners can also export surplus electricity to the grid under the Microgeneration Support Scheme and receive export payments from their electricity supplier (e.g. Energia 18.5c/kWh, Electric Ireland 19.5c/kWh). There is also an income tax disregard of €400/year on microgeneration export income, extended to end of 2028. Property must have been built and occupied before 2021.
