Full Details

SEAI's new Battery System Grant gives homeowners €600 towards a home battery energy storage system, helping you store solar electricity generated during the day and use it in the evening. It opened for applications at 5pm on 6 October 2026, following approval by Government on 29 September 2026.

The battery grant uses the same property rule as the expanded solar grants — the home must have been built and occupied before 2025. It can be combined with the SEAI solar PV grant (up to €1,800). SEAI estimates a battery installed alongside a 4kWp solar system can bring household savings of up to €878 per year.

Homeowners on certain Department of Social Protection payments can access much larger support for solar and battery systems — see SEAI Enhanced Grants for welfare recipients.
