ACRES (Agri-Climate Rural Environment Scheme) is Ireland's new agri-environment programme under the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027 with a budget of €1.5 billion. It provides annual payments to farmers who adopt climate and biodiversity-friendly practices such as protecting watercourses, managing habitats, reducing emissions, and improving soil health. There are two streams: ACRES General (nationwide) and ACRES Co-operation (targeted areas with additional support through local teams). Payment rates vary by action undertaken. Annual claims are submitted via agfood.ie with the BISS application. Many ACRES actions must be completed by year end. Advance ACRES payments for 2025 are ongoing into 2026.
Farmers with eligible land in Ireland. Some ACRES Co-operation areas have specific application windows. Must comply with BISS conditionality requirements.
