📋
Full Details

The LEADER programme (2023–2027, budget €180 million) supports the development of rural areas by funding community-led projects. Eligible project types include:
• Rural economic development (green economy, agri-diversification, food production)
• Rural tourism and recreation infrastructure
• Innovative enterprise development
• Social, community, and cooperative enterprises

Maximum grant per investment project: €200,000. Rural areas are defined as all of Ireland EXCEPT the boundaries of Dublin, Cork, Limerick, Waterford, and Galway cities. Contact your Local Action Group (LAG) before developing a full application — they can advise on eligibility and the Local Development Strategy for your area. Match-funding (typically 25%) from the project promoter is usually required.

Eligibility Requirements

Community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises, and rural businesses in rural areas (outside the 5 main cities). Must provide match-funding. Contact your local LAG to register an expression of interest first.
